Edited Photographs

These are the edited pictures for my music magazine.
This picture will be used as the front cover image as the model is looking directly at the camera which makes it look like she is interacting with the audience and connecting with them. This will draw the audience more to the magazine because they will feel more connected and comfortable with the model. When editing the image I decide to keep the edit simple but effective by making her stand out more and enhance the colours. I also thought that because the image is shot as a mid-shot it will be more affective.

This image will be used for the double page spread as it will be used for an interview with the model who is posing as a new upcoming female solo artist. I thought this image would work well for the double page spread because if I put the image to the right hand side and enlarged it I could have the writing around the outline of the models body, which would give a good design and affect. It would also work because of the way the model is positioned it would make it appear as if she was looking at the interview or looking over it bcause she is strong enough to overcome what people will throw at her. I kept the edit simple without changing much but making the model stand out more and enhancing the colour and boldness of the image.

This is the album cover I have created for my female artist. As you can see the female artists name is Vixen and the album name is Spiteful. With this image the model is presented as a strong, fierce and spiteful character which fits in with the album name. Whilst editing this image I decide to keep the image dull colours (black and white) however I kept her lips red becuase it connotes danger, power and anger. I think this edit works well for the album cover because it's simple but powerful enough to stand out and represent the models charatcer as the upcoming female artist.

This image I used for a poster, this image was from my second photo shoot. I liked this image because she's smiling into the distance, she's not looking at the camera so it could connote her smiling at the future or the past. The way I edited this image creates a poster style, it also is darker around the edges creating the model to stand out more and be brighter.

Photographs

These are the photographs I have taken for my magazine, I have used a white backdrop and studio lighting to enhance the quality of the pictures and to make the model stand out more. Overall I took 44 images, however these are my top 8 images.

I like this image because the model is looking directly at the camera which makes it seem like she is interacting with the audience and ingaging with them. Also this image is a mid-shot photo, which will work well for the front page.

I like this image because it shows the model looking at the distance with a happy/interested face, it also has good lighting which complements the model well.

I like this image because of the lighting and the position the model is in, however I don't like the pose the model is doing with her mouth, it looks painful and I don't think it would attract my target audience.

I like this image because it captures the model at a good angle creating a good image. This image would look good on the double page spread with writing surrounding her, because it would look like she is looking at the writing, so it would seem the image is interacting with the text which would make the audience be more attracted to reading that page.

I'm not sure about this image, I don't like how far away the model seems from the camera, it makes it seem as if she's distancing herself from the audience, if I zoomed in on the model I would like the image better.

I like this image because the model seems fierce and serious, her eyes are focused straight ahead, her mouth is together slightly pouting and her hand is on her waist adding extra emotion. This image suits the type of artist I'm trying to bring across to the audience.

I like how the model is positioned in this image, how she's not focused in the center and shes leaning slightly to the right. However I don't like the pose she's done with her mouth. It looks like shes trying to stop herself from smiling.

I like this image because it shows how the model is fierce and strong. I think this image would work well for an album cover image because the female artist names is Vixen which stands for a fierce, spiteful, quarrelsome, shrewish, or malicious. This image presents a fierce quality where she is focusing straight at the camera, slightly frowning and is swearing quite simply.

For my second Photo Shoot I took 42 images, I used the same model as last time but in different clothes. However I did not like the results of this photo shoot, only a few came out well. I think this photo shoot might of not turned out well because of the brighter lighting and also because the models hair wasn't done as nicely as it could of been. Also the poses the model did and the ones I recommended for her to do, doesn't suit the style of magazine I am creating. In some of the images as well the lighting is too dark, so it created a dark shadow on the model.

Photo Shot Planning

My model is going to be a female, posing as a new upcoming female artist. From doing my research on existing media I've noticed that using a female artist will encourage females and males to purchase that magazine. I will be using my friend Caitlin, she has a dull brown hair colour, with blue eyes. She will be dressed in dull colours to make her face more vibrant and draw the audience straight to her instead of her clothing. Her clothes will fit into the genre of my magazine to show how she is an new upcoming artist of that genre. As I want the model to stand out I will be taking the pictures in front of a white background with studio lighting to highlight and draw more attention to detail with her clothes and makeup. I will mainly focus on her face and upper body to create more off an effect of her trying to interact with the audience.

Questionnaire Anaylsis

Question 1
From gathering my results from the questionnaires I handed out people liked the name 'Paranioa' more than any of the other names. Although 'Dynamtie' came in as a close second compared to the other two names.

Question 2
People feel if I gave a free gift with my magazine they would be more inclined to purchase the magazine if a free gift was included. So when designing my magazine I will make sure that a free gift will be presented so people know that it will be sold with a gift.

Question 3
Posters are the most popular gift that people would want to receive with my magazine with guitar pick coming second. However a CD containing a new realise was the least popular, I think this is because not many people use Cd's anymore because they can access all their music online.

Question 4
From my results I gathered people would rather that this magazine was to be realised monthly than weekly or every fortnight.

Question 5
People werent willing to pay more than £3, so the most popular result was £2.50. So £2.50 will be the price of my magazine.

Question 6
I gave my audience a choice of three different colour scheme genres; Black, White and Blue, Black and White or Black, White and Grey. The most popular choice out off those three was Black, White and Blue. This will seperate my magazine from others where the main colour scheme is Black, White and Red, which will make this magazine stand out more and make more of a dramtic affect.

Question 7
Out off the 6 choices I gace my audience for what the would like to see featured in the magazine the top four were Concert and Gigs upcoming news, Exclusive interviews, News on Artists and Upcoming bands. The main one people are interested in is Exclusive interviews.

Question 8
For the competiton that people would compete in the main prize they would like to win is gig/concert tickets and back stage passes.
